the silence serene,
a quilt to wrap the soul in,
familiar and cozy,
the wind and sky remind one of a bygone era,
the sky,
empty of planes, and vapor trails,
the wind,
a pleasant breeze,
cooling before the advent of air conditioning,
no constant hum of electric motors,
instead meadowlarks sing across the prairie,
north of town.
