Feeding Seagulls at the Beach by Amanda Adrienne Smith

“I want a place with no memories.” -Yellowstone, Season 4 – Episode 6

You might be my morning mother light.

I stand on the beach, toes buried in wet.
The sea parts in my dreams and mentions
how much it hurts to breathe. You can't be
everyone to everything. Or can you?
When the birds get too aggressive, I throw
the bread far from my body. I sleep.
My daughter, I'm telling you how to sleep.
