The Sun by Stephen Roche

The backdrop of the sun
Is like art to me, but I
Don’t know much about it.

Down behind the mountains
It goes to sleep another night.
Warmth I’ll hold until tomorrow.

The backdrop of the sun
Does not return to the sky
And we below are lost.

And no matter how far
I walk behind the mountain,
I’ll never find where it went.
