Yarmouth Ancient Cemetery by Judy DeCroce

Taken
this gale of ghosts
an omen coasting past,

in mindless blue air,
over this land of finishes

all our mistakes, joys, and lives
distilled down,
reduced to:
   Loving Mother
   Taken too Soon
   Rest in Peace

Where I join lovers, thieves,
those ordinary lives brushed by weeds.

Who were we?

Lives shaved down to two dates
beginning and end or tiny lives
with only one.

Who was I?
Let me tell you a story.
