After
Everest 1935, by Nicholas Roerich
on the foothills of the Siwaliks
a light drizzle falls, moon-blue
distant rumble of thunder
drowned by anklets
on the feet of deities
striding bleached white peaks.
striding bleached white peaks.
muscular rivers grow
from brooks trickling in the melt
from brooks trickling in the melt
of chaste Himalayan snow,
the morning, a lifting gauze
of blue winged dragonflies
enchanted dust of indigo-gold
swirling in the iris of your eyes.
