The Silver Age by Andrew Albritton

A dime sparkles
in the sunlight and the bell
of the register dings.
The paper booklet
is slid carefully off the counter
and opened with a smile.

A tale told in images:
dull primaries shine
with jungles and cityscapes,
villains and heroes.

Andrew Albritton holds a PhD in English from the University of Nottingham and teaches critical and creative thinking at Missouri State University. His work has appeared in American Tanka and Blue Heron Review, among other publications.
