Chiaroscuro by Shinlynn Kuo

you gave me a poem
when I asked for an essay—
with you, I am home

we lie still in bed
lying through our teeth
hold each other’s breath

together we wait
for a train never coming
running from silence

you’ve left ghosts behind
of cigarette burns on the
limbs of vintage films

Shinlynn Kuo currently lives in Southern California creating living paintings through the medium of game design. She can be spotted on library rooftops, drawing dragons on paper airplanes she flies out.
