Genesis by Richard Schnap

The blank page stared at him
A naked white desert
A woman without a name

As he gripped his pen
A bird searching for water
A man waiting for a sign

Then the two began to touch
A river sprung from nowhere
A caress both sure and slow-moving

Till the void between them vanished
A garden of unknown flowers
Love in a strange new language

Richard Schnap is a poet, songwriter and collagist living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His poems have most recently appeared locally, nationally and overseas in a variety of print and online publications.
