Sunflowers, Sunflowers, Sunflowers by Martin Willitts, Jr.

Based on Van Gogh’s Sunflower paintings
Note: Sunflowers draw toxins out of the ground

I carry armfuls of sunflowers into my room,
scatter them across my yellow bed,
plow deep into them,
tossing them as poems, the thickness of paint,
some enter into my skin —

love is here! love is here! love is here!
