Once Upon a Time by Richard Schnap

He turned the knob
Of her open hand
And a door swung open

To a foreign country
Under strange stars
Whose names he began to learn

And he wanted to stay
But when he tried to speak
It was in another language

Now it just seems
Like someone else's dream
A book he lost somewhere

Richard Schnap ia a poet, songwriter and collagist living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His poems have most recently appeared locally, nationally and overseas in a variety of print and online publications.
