Carpe Diem by Richard Schnap

He was half asleep
On the edge of a dream
Watching the sun go down

Staining the world red
A woman saying goodbye
Her scarlet hair flowing

And he wanted to kiss her
One final time
To drown in her wine

But he woke too late
Alone in the arms
Of another empty night

Richard Schnap is a poet, songwriter and collagist living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His poems have most recently appeared locally, nationally and overseas in a variety of print and online publications.
