Summer Poetry Contest, 2012

Red Poppy Review Summer Poetry Contest!!!  
Open 17 July - 31 July 2012.  Winners will be announced August 3, 2012.  
First place to receive half the entrance fees, Runner Up to receive $10.00.
(all entrants must have a paypal account)

1.  Entrance fee is $5.00, limited to one poem per entrant.  Send your payment by clicking on the paypal donate button listed on the lower left of the homepage.  Be sure to include your name along with your payment.  

2.  Send one poem, 25 lines or less, to SandyB1070@msn.com. Include a brief bio.

Judges are:  Sandy Benitez, Kristin Roedell, and Martin Willitts, Jr.

Kristin Roedell's bio:  Kristin Roedell is a Northwest poet and retired attorney. Since 2009 her poems have been published in over 45 journals. Select poetry appears in Switched on Gutenberg, Ginosko, Frostwriting, and Amoskeag. She is the author of two collections of poetry: “Seeing in the Dark” (Tomato Can Press 2009) and “Girls With Gardenias” (Flutter Press, 2011). She was nominated for DZANC’s Best of the Web and for the Pushcart Prize. Her third book is forthcoming (summer of 2012) from Legal Studies Forum.

Martin Willitts Jr. bio:  Martin Willitts, Jr. retired as a Senior Librarian in upstate New York. He is a visual artist of Victorian and Chinese paper cutouts. He was nominated for 5 Pushcart and 3 Best Of The Net awards. His forthcoming  poetry books include “Playing The Pauses In The Absence Of Stars” (Main Street Rag, 2012), “Waiting For The Day To Open Its Wings” (UNBOUND Content, 2012), and “Searching For What Is Not There” (March Street Press, 2012), “True Simplicity” (Poets Wear Prada Press, 2012), “The Heart Knows, Simply, What It Needs: Poems based on Emily Dickson, her life and poetry” (Aldrich Press, 2012), and “Art Is the Impression of an Artist” (Edgar and Lenore's Publishing House, 2012).
