A Leaf by Steve Klepetar

Treeless in February wind
a spinning parachute
a wrinkled blanket
of skin —
what message rolled
into winter’s bottle
what meaning aside
from that brown pattern
hovering in air
dead as it is perfect
above the waiting sheen of snow.

Steve Klepetar teaches literature and creative writing at Saint Cloud State University.  His work has received several nominations for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net; Flutter Press has recently published his latest chapbook, “My Father Teaches Me a Magic Word.”
