Sunlight/Bandana/Water by Erick Mertz

woman cleans an
open chamber
where shoes are left on the doorstep

she leans at the waist
sweeping cobwebs,
thoughts drift to money, destination

she wraps her head,
bathing me from afar in pale,
faded yellows

once she backs a
step away
from the fountain,

wind carries scent of fruit blossoms,
white, delicate,
momentarily communed with ammonia
