The Distant Rain Finally Finds Us by Ryan Bayless

I.

     In a summer field
     beneath white mountains
     yarrow and aster
     discover the ground.

II.

     We walk on through forests
     and feel between our teeth
     the delicate leaves
     of tiny white flowers.

III.

     Thunder all day
but not a drop meets the meadow.
     Almost at dusk
the distant rain finally finds us.
