Brief (Enough) Encounter: A Sapphic by Thomas March

We collided—reading while walking, kept our
fingers keeping places inside our books and,
wishing past coincidence, scanned each other’s
titles and thought not.


Raised in Illinois and now based in New York City, I’m a teacher and critic as well as a poet.
